Who should attend the course?

This accredited course is designed for individuals working in confined spaces either carrying out work or inspections, as well as individuals performing standby person roles at worksites within the following industries:

  • Pastoral
  • Civil construction
  • Coal mining
  • Drilling
  • Extractive industries
  • Metalliferous mining
  • General construction

Pre-requisite:

  • Nil

Mode of delivery:

  • Face to face training

Learning outcomes:

  • Hazards associated with working in a confined space
  • Risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA’s)
  • What to do before, during and after you enter a confined space
  • Confined Space Entry Permits
  • Hazardous gasses and atmospheric testing
  • Tagging and lockout
  • Use of specialised equipment, including:
    • Breathing apparatus
    • Confined space harness
    • Tripod
  • Duties of standby person
  • Rescue and first aid

Assessment:

Assessment is in two (2) parts:

  1. Knowledge Assessment
  2. Performance Assessment

  • 1 day

Location:

  • Course is conducted at your workplace or at a negotiated location
  • This course is nationally accredited.
  • Students competently completing the course will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in RIIWHS202D Enter and work in confined spaces
